Service Description

This 8-week introductory course is designed for adults who are brand new to tap dance or looking to revisit the basics after a long break. Sarah Paul Migliozzi is a new instructor with HDC! Check out the "Teaching Artist" page to read all about her! Unlike other weekly classes with HDC, this class is meant to be a complete 8 week session. If you can't attend all 8 classes that's okay, but by signing up, you are paying for the 8 sessions. Pre-registration is required. In a supportive environment, we’ll focus on the foundation of great tap dancing: musicality, balance and weight-shifting. You’ll learn how to turn your feet into percussion instruments while building the coordination and strength every dancer needs. Over the course of six weeks, we will progress through: • Ankle Strength & Mobility: We’ll start each session with targeted exercises to develop "loose" but strong ankles. • Weight Shifting & Balance: Master the mechanics of shifting your weight efficiently from one leg to the other. • Music Theory for Dancers: Learn how to count music, and stay in the "pocket". • Choreography: We’ll tie everything together by learning a short, fun routine that celebrates the joy of dancing and performing together. Attire: Tap shoes required, comfortable clothes with ankles showing preferred.
